Drug Awareness and Prevention Resources
Drug awareness and prevention resources are essential tools for parents to help safeguard their children from substance abuse. As children and teens are exposed to various pressures, both in school and online, it's crucial for parents to be equipped with accurate information and effective strategies. Many resources, such as Operation Prevention offer comprehensive guides on understanding drug risks, signs of substance use, and ways to start conversations with children about the dangers of drugs.
Parents can also access community programs, school-based prevention efforts, and online resources like Partnership to End Addiction, which provide education on how to create a supportive home environment, foster open communication, and recognize early warning signs. You should also be aware of current trends in vaping and other nicotine products such as Zyn. These products are easily concealed by students and parents can help by checking student’s backpacks frequently.
By staying informed and proactive, parents can play a pivotal role in preventing drug use and supporting their children’s overall well-being.
Future CEO Program
The Future CEO program is a new entrepreneurship program sponsored by the Carlsbad Chamber Community Foundation. for middle school students that introduces young students to the world of business. It will teach what it takes to be the CEO of a company, and all the steps required to run a successful business whether large or small. From creating a business plan, getting a business license, to product development, to branding and marketing, banking and finance, and customer interaction.
All sessions are live and in-person at the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce Offices on the dates/times listed. If a student has to miss a session for some reason, the session content will be available after the fact via a password-accessed webinar. (NOTE: The “sessions” are NOT recorded, but the content will be pre-recorded for the session leader for those who miss for some reason).
The program is designed to be an uplifting, educational experience that will instill confidence and inspire creativity in our youth. The highlight of the program all comes together in the Future CEO Business Day & Trade Show where the students will be allowed to showcase their business and sell the goods they have created!
