Quote of the Week
“Honor to the soldier and sailor everywhere, who bravely bears his country’s cause. Honor, also, to the citizen who cares for his brother in the field and serves, as he best can, the same cause.”‒ Abraham Lincoln There aren’t enough words to show our gratitude for all the troops who served our country. To all Veterans out there, we honor, respect, and support you!
CUSD Parent University- 11/21
CUSD will host a parent workshop to learn how to connect with your students' school. Communication with the school is vital and this workshop will help parents navigate through Parent Square, Aeries, Instagram and more.
Coyote Cavern Productions Auditions for The Lion King Jr.
Lights, camera, action!! Coyote Cavern Productions announces auditions for The Lion King Jr. Auditions are open to all Calavera Hills students grades 3-8. Please see the attached forms for audition times, information and the audition form.
Coyote Crew’s Annual Canned Food Drive is Happening Now!
Help us support the North County Food Bank! From now until Friday, November 22, bring in non-perishable, unexpired items (no glass jars, please). Drop off donations at the front gate before school or have your student bring them to their Advisory class. Be sure to label donations with your student’s Advisory teacher’s name. The class with the most donations wins a prize! Let’s beat last year’s total of 377 pounds and make a difference together!
Lost and Found
Our lost and found is full!! Are you missing a hoodie, water bottle or a pair of shoes? Please encourage your student to check the lost and found. All items not collected by 11/22/24 will be donated to charity over Thanksgiving break.
EBike Permits and Renewals
Proof of the safety course completion certificate needs to be turned into the front office. Students who do not complete the approved course will not be permitted to ride their bike to school until the safety course is completed.
CUSD requires all students who ride to and from school to obtain a permit for their bike, and to renew their permit annually. This includes permits for both acoustic and electric bikes. Students can attend the CUSD approved online course in lieu of an in-person course due to capacity. Please follow the CHP Approved Course Link for the online safety course.
Please note permit renewals do not receive new stickers. The completion date of the renewal course is recorded for CHM records once the completion certificate is turned into the office.
Coyote Parent Crew
We are looking for Parent Volunteers at lunchtime each day. Our hope is to offer students a variety of activities to participate in each day during their lunchtime. If you have some flexibility in your day and are interested in coming on campus to work with our students, please fill out this form. If you are unavailable during the school day to come to campus, but still want to support students, we are also in need of donations/prizes for students. Sign up Here
Career Speaker Series
During second semester, we will have a Career Speaker Series at CHMS. If you are interested in sharing information about your career with our students, please complete this form. Ideally, we would like to get professionals from many different industries to give students a wide range of options to explore. The presentation dates are listed in this interest form and we are asking that, the day that you come, you are available for two 20 minute sessions of about 30 students, keeping in mind that, for middle school students, the more interactive the presentation, the better :). We will give you more details as we get closer to the date. Thank you!
Dropping off Items for Students During the School Day
We all know sometimes items need to be dropped off during the school day. We hope to minimize classroom disruptions by implementing the following procedures:
Drop-Off Location
All items dropped off by parents (e.g., lunches, forgotten materials) should be brought to the front office. Please do not hand items to students through the gates.
Labeling
Parents please label items with the student’s name, grade, and teacher before drop-off.
Notification System
Office staff will notify the student's teacher about the item drop-off. To avoid interruptions, this notification will inform the teacher that the student can collect the item during the next non-instructional period (such as lunch or break).
Pick-Up During Breaks
Students will be reminded by their teacher at an appropriate time to pick up items from the front office during lunch, brunch, or passing periods.
End-of-Day Items
Any items not picked up by the end of the day will be stored securely and, if necessary, sent home with the student the following day or kept for parent pickup.
Calling Parents During the School Day
Parents, please remind your student if they need to call you during the school day, they should come to the office. This is especially important if your student is not feeling well. Students should report to the health office and call their parents from there. Also, a valid ID is required when checking out a student. Thank you for your cooperation.
Learning Lab
Does your student need assistance with homework or just need a morning check in before school? You are in luck! We have Learning Lab Monday-Thursday mornings from 7:45-8:15. Please see the flyer below for room numbers. If you have any questions about Learning Lab, please email Mrs. Rines srines@carlsbadusd.net .
