Waking Up Courage Assembly

On Wednesday, October 23 our students will have a special assembly.  The Waking Up Courage Assembly introduces students to language and skills they can use to prevent and stop bullying. This powerful, student-centered experience  enlists, unites, and empowers students to take a stand and speak up when they see bullying and violence among their peers. This presentation delivers a compelling and consistent message to all students that bullying is never tolerated, and silence isn’t either. It introduces them to youth-friendly language and skills they can use to safely and effectively defuse, deescalate and stop bullying behavior.

The Waking Up Courage Assembly:

  • Provides a common vocabulary that alerts students to the mean behavior that is too often ignored, accepted, or not even recognized as being mean

  • Promotes understanding of the effect of bullying on the whole school/community

  • Increases empathy and motivation to act, both on and off campus

  • Helps bystanders speak up by providing effective, youth-friendly communication skills, language and actions that all students can use to safely and effectively intervene when they witness bullying and other mistreatment

EBike Permits and Renewals

Proof of the safety course completion certificate needs to be turned into the front office.  Students who do not complete the approved course will not be permitted to ride their bike to school until the safety course is completed.

CUSD requires all students who ride to and from school to obtain a permit for their bike, and to renew their permit annually. This includes permits for both acoustic and electric bikes. Students can attend the CUSD approved online course in lieu of an in-person course due to capacity.  Please follow the CHP Approved Course Link for the online safety course.

Please note permit renewals do not receive new stickers.  The completion date of the renewal course is recorded for CHM records once the completion certificate is turned into the office.

Coyote Parent Crew

We are looking for Parent Volunteers at lunchtime each day.  Our hope is to offer students a variety of activities to participate in each day during their lunchtime.  If you have some flexibility in your day and are interested in coming on campus to work with our students, please fill out this form.  If you are unavailable during the school day to come to campus, but still want to support students, we are also in need of donations/prizes for students.  Sign up Here

Career Speaker Series

During second semester, we will have a Career Speaker Series at CHMS. If you are interested in sharing information about your career with our students, please complete this form. Ideally, we would like to get professionals from many different industries to give students a wide range of options to explore. The presentation dates are listed in this interest form and we are asking that, the day that you come, you are available for two 20 minute sessions of about 30 students, keeping in mind that, for middle school students, the more interactive the presentation, the better :). We will give you more details as we get closer to the date. Thank you!

Shadow Cats

Shadowcats is a student-led program where eighth-grade students are given the opportunity to experience Sage Creek High School firsthand. They will spend part of the day on campus “shadowing” our current students. Eighth-grade students will shadow Bobcats throughout their 2nd and 3rd-period classes as well as lunch. Drop off is 9:30 am and pick up is 1:00 pm.

Sign-ups are officially open for the 2024-2025 season! Here is the sign up form for the eighth graders. The forms will be open until December 22, 2024. Please push this information out on Parent Square, in school newsletters, in advisory lessons, etc.

As a reminder, members of the Shadowcats team will be at our school during 8th-grade lunch

On Tuesday, December 3.  The official Shadowcats date for CHMS is Thursday, January 9.  (Drop off is 9:30 am and pick up is 1:00 pm.)

Help CHMS PTSA Give Back to Your Students!

By definition, the CHMS PTSA connects parents, teachers, students and administrators, but we also support critical school and classroom needs. We ask every family in our school to become a member because we know that the more people that join, the more we can do for our kids. It only takes minutes and every dollar helps. Membership for parents is just $25, students just $10. Please consider a $150 (less than $17/month) donation to help us bring enhanced programs and resources to all students.  Join & Donate to the CHMS PTSA. If you have any questions, please reach out to membership@chmsptsa.org.

PTSA STAR Program

Please consider supporting our CHMS teachers and staff by signing up for the STAR program here.  We still have staff members without a STAR family.  Please help!

Any questions - please contact programs@chmsptsa.org

Thank you and we really appreciate your support!
