It is hard to believe that next year will be my twentieth year at Calavera Hills Middle School. Prior to being an assistant principal, I was a special educator for many years. Since I began my teaching career in Los Angeles in 1995, I have been passionate about ensuring that all students feel valued and included on campus. While I was in Los Angeles, I taught second grade and special education. I spent two years as an inclusion facilitator where I worked with students and staff to include students with disabilities in general education classes and activities.
I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, from the University of California, Riverside, and a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Mt. St. Mary’s.
I am a parent of two children who attended Carlsbad schools and graduated from Sage Creek High School. My children constantly inspire me as an educator through their empathy and kindness, which remind me of the importance of nurturing these qualities in students.
