Quote of the Week
“"You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending." — C.S. Lewis
We all make mistakes or have tough days—but they don’t define us. What really counts is what we choose to do next. This quote reminds us that no matter how things started, you have the power to shape your own future. Keep moving forward—you’re writing your story one day at a time.

SBAC Testing
This year, Calavera Hills Middle School will give the State SBAC tests between May 5-23, 2025 and the students will test in their subject-specific classes. Please read the SBAC Parent Information Letter for details regarding the state testing and ways you can help support your child. Thank you.
Confetti Eggs and Other Distractions
Lately, some students have been bringing confetti eggs to school and cracking them on their friends' heads. While this might seem like harmless fun, it creates a big mess around campus and places extra work on our hardworking custodial staff.
We’ve asked students not to bring confetti eggs to school, but a few are still testing the rules. To help maintain a clean and respectful environment, students caught with confetti eggs may receive lunch detention or be asked to participate in campus beautification efforts.
We kindly ask for your help in checking your child’s backpack and reminding them to leave any confetti eggs or other distracting items at home. Thank you for helping us keep our school clean and respectful for everyone!
Learning Lab and Lunch Bunch Update
Please encourage your students with Ds or Fs to spend some time working on catching up with their assignments before the end of the grading period on April 25.
After Spring Break, we will be sending attendance emails to caretakers of students who attend Learning Lab in the mornings, and our new Lunch Bunch program that will be held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Learning Lab will continue to be on a drop in basis for any student that needs time to work, or support in any of their classes. Students will need to stay for the entire time from 7:45-8:15 in the morning. We will continue to have the library at our home base and offer Learning Lab Monday-Thursdays.
Starting the week after Spring Break, we will start our Lunch Bunch program. Caretakers of students with grades of a D or F will receive information about the program and have the opportunity to notify us if they would like their student to spend their Tuesday and Wednesday lunches working in a classroom with the support of a teacher until they bring their grades up to passing.
If you have any questions about Learning Lab or the Lunch Bunch program, please reach out to our MTSS teacher, Sarah Rines at srines@carlsbadusd.net
CHS Musical: Hadestown Teen Edition
The Carlsbad High School Drama Department will present a performance of Hadestown on Wednesday, April 30 at 5pm. Admission for this performance is free for Middle School Students and one accompanying guardian. Students will not be admitted without a guardian.
Hadestown is a musical retelling of the ancient Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice and their epic quest to escape the underworld. The show is full of memorable characters, anthemic songs, and a timeless story of courage and determination. It is suitable for ages 8 and above.
The performance will include a 5 minute stretch break in lieu of an intermission. After the show, there will be a 10-15 minute Q&A with the Cast, Crew, and Pit Orchestra.

If you are unavailable during the school day to come to campus, but still want to support students, we are also in need of donations/prizes for students. Sign up Here
Free Tutoring
A student from Sage Creek High School leads a club/group who are trying to provide free tutoring as a service to the community. Please see the attached flier and feel free to share this with students/families that may be in need of this support.
