City of Carlsbad Traffic Tips
Thanksgiving traffic safety tips
With Thanksgiving coming up, you may notice more people walking, driving and biking. Here are some tips to help everyone stay safe on the road over the holiday.
If you have a new e-bike rider at home, have them take the Safer Streets Together pledge. It may seem like a small action, but studies show that when someone makes a pledge, they’re more likely to follow through.
It’s getting darker earlier. Help your student select bright clothing and reflective gear to wear when walking or biking at night, and make sure their bike has working front and rear lights. This video shows how to prep for a night bike ride.
Talk to your student about the rules of the road, including rules for pedestrians and bicyclists, and Carlsbad-specific e-bike rules.
We’re thankful for your help keeping our community safe.

Progress Reports
We have completed our second grading period and progress report grades are now available to view in Aeries. Please take a moment to review your student's grades by logging into your Aeries Parent Portal. For assistance on how to view them, refer to these instructions. View Instructions As always, your student's real-time grades are viewable once you log into Aeries.
Keep up the great support for your student!
Honor Roll Information
As we enter the final grading period of the first semester, we want to remind you of the criteria for students to earn a spot on the Honor Roll at the end of the semester. It is important that both you and your child are aware of these requirements, as there is still time to work toward this achievement:
1. **A GPA of 3.5 or higher**: Students must maintain an average of A's and B's across all of their classes. This GPA is based on their performance throughout the semester, so it’s crucial that students stay focused and continue to put in their best effort.
2. **No "N" (Needs Improvement) in Citizenship**: Citizenship grades reflect how well students demonstrate responsibility, respect, and positive behavior in the classroom. To make the Honor Roll, students must have no "N" in this area. Positive engagement and a good attitude are key to meeting this criterion.
With the semester coming to a close, we encourage students to stay on top of their assignments, seek help when needed, and maintain a strong commitment to their behavior and participation in class. Remember, students can attend Learning Lab from 7:45-8:15 Mondays-Thursdays. It’s never too late to make a positive change! Thank you for supporting your child’s academic journey.
Boys & Girls Club Winter Tryout Dates
Winter sports season begins soon! Boys & Girls Club will offer boys basketball, girls field hockey, running and pickleball club for the winter season. Check out the Boys and Girls Club Athletics Webpage for events, tryout dates and to register.
Coyote Cavern Productions Auditions for The Lion King Jr.
Lights, camera, action!! Coyote Cavern Productions announces auditions for The Lion King Jr. Auditions are open to all Calavera Hills students grades 3-8. Please see the attached forms for audition times, information and the audition form.
EBike Permits and Renewals
Proof of the safety course completion certificate needs to be turned into the front office. Students who do not complete the approved course will not be permitted to ride their bike to school until the safety course is completed.
CUSD requires all students who ride to and from school to obtain a permit for their bike, and to renew their permit annually. This includes permits for both acoustic and electric bikes. Students can attend the CUSD approved online course in lieu of an in-person course due to capacity. Please follow the CHP Approved Course Link for the online safety course.
Please note permit renewals do not receive new stickers. The completion date of the renewal course is recorded for CHM records once the completion certificate is turned into the office.
