Quote of the week

“If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need." – Marcus Tullius Cicero
A garden represents time in nature, growth, and caring for something beyond ourselves. A library represents knowledge, curiosity, and imagination. Together, they suggest that when we nurture both our minds and our well-being, we already have what we need to thrive.
For students, this is a great reminder: learning doesn’t only happen in the classroom. It happens when you read, explore, reflect, and take time to grow, both intellectually and personally.

ISPE Applications Due May 1

Next year's ISPE application is due by May 1st. If your student competes in an individual sport and would like to participate in ISPE, please review all criteria in the application and email the completed packet with accompanying documents to our administrative assistant, Claudia Keck, at ckeck@carlsbadusd.net as a single, complete document by May 1st.

CHS Musical- Something Rotten!

The Carlsbad High School Theater Department is currently preparing their upcoming production of Something Rotten! at the Cultural Arts Center, located next to Carlsbad High School.

They are excited to offer free admission to middle school students and their families for a special “pick-up rehearsal.” This is a full run of the show following a few days off, making it a great opportunity to experience the performance in a relaxed setting.

Event Details:
  • Show: Something Rotten!
  • Date: Wednesday, April 29
  • Time: 5:00 PM
  • Location: Cultural Arts Center (next to Carlsbad High School)

There will be a short question and answer opportunity with the actors, tech crew, and pit orchestra directly following the performance.

If you’re interested in attending, simply arrive before 5:00 PM and grab a seat. No tickets are required.
Please note that Something Rotten! is generally considered appropriate for a PG-13 audience. It includes mild language, adult themes, and some sexual innuendo.

The show is hilarious, the music is outstanding—featuring a student pit orchestra from the Carlsbad High School Band and Orchestra classes—and the dancing is superb!

If you have any questions, please email the Theater Director, Andrea Schuck, at andrea.schuck@carlsbadusd.net.
