“The more you practice the art of thankfulness, the more you have to be thankful for.” — Norman Vincent Peale
As we approach Thanksgiving Break, let’s remember that gratitude grows when we take time to notice the good things around us: our friends, families, teachers, and the opportunities we have each day. A thankful heart doesn’t just make life brighter; it helps us see how much we already have to appreciate.

As we approach the final grading period of the first semester, we want to remind you of the criteria for students to earn a spot on the Honor Roll at the end of the semester. It is important that both you and your child are aware of these requirements, as there is still time to work toward this achievement:
1. **A GPA of 3.5 or higher**: Students must maintain an average of A's and B's across all of their classes. This GPA is based on their performance throughout the semester, so it’s crucial that students stay focused and continue to put in their best effort.
2. **No "N" (Needs Improvement) or "U" (Unsatisfactory) in Citizenship**: Citizenship grades reflect how well students demonstrate responsibility, respect, and positive behavior in the classroom. To make the Honor Roll, students must have no "N" or "U" in this area. Positive engagement and a good attitude are key to meeting this criterion.
With the semester coming to a close in January, we encourage students to stay on top of their assignments, seek help when needed, and maintain a strong commitment to their behavior and participation in class. Remember, students can attend Learning Lab from 2:45-3:15 on Mondays and Tuesdays and 7:45-8:15 on Wednesdays and Thursdays. It’s never too late to make a positive change! Thank you for supporting your child’s academic journey.

- The CHMS Learning Lab is voluntary and open to all students. Students may choose to take part in our Learning Lab on days that it is helpful and choose to not participate on days that it does not meet their learning needs.
- While the CHMS Learning Lab is optional, we will take roll each day. This way, we will know who is taking advantage of this service and parents can require their own children to participate. Parents will receive daily emails of confirmation of their child’s attendance.
- Students are expected to behave in such a way that does not make it difficult for other students to take advantage of this program.

Did your students bring home a produce bag last Thursday? If so, you should sign up to receive a produce bag every other Thursday! Brighter Bites, a company dedicated to supporting healthy families and communities, will provide 200 bags of fresh fruits and vegetables every two weeks — free to our Calavera Hills families who sign up to receive them.
This wonderful opportunity will help ease grocery costs and promote healthy eating habits for our students and their families.
To be a part of this program, all you have to do is scan the QR code attached or you can fill out the attached form and return it to our school office.
Pick up will be on Thursday afternoons outside the elementary school.
Together, we grow stronger and healthier! 🌱
