Learning Lab

  • The CHMS Learning Lab is voluntary and open to all students. Students may choose to take part in our Learning Lab on days that it is helpful and choose to not participate on days that it does not meet their learning needs.
  • While the CHMS Learning Lab is optional, we will take role each day. This way, we will know who is taking advantage of this service and parents can require their own children to participate. Parents will receive daily emails of confirmation of their child’s attendance.
  • Students are expected to behave in such a way that does not make it difficult for other students to take advantage of this program.

CHMS Cell Phone Policy

Students must have all mobile communication devices turned off and kept out to sight during the school day, both in and out of the classroom. This policy begins from the time students enter campus until they exit campus at the end of the day. If a student need to contact a parent during the school day, they may come to the office for assistance.
We ask you to please review these policies with your student(s) to ensure that they understand expectations at CHMS. Additional information can be found on the CUSD website Teachers and administrators will review these policies with students as the year begins. Thank you for your support in helping us to maximize student learning!

Parking at CHMS

Parking at Calavera is always a challenge, and this year it is even more so as CHE adds additional TK classes and our school continues to grow. We ask that you use the outside loop for student drop-off only, so staff can park in the inside section of the lot. If possible, please avoid using parking spaces so that staff have access to them. As always, do not block accessible parking spaces when dropping off your students. Please see
Drop Off/Pick Up Protocol for more information.

Bike Permit Reminders

  • New Permits are required for all students new to CUSD, move into CUSD during the school year, or decided after the start of the school year that they want to ride their Bicycle to school; the online application link is live year-round.
  • CUSD recommends all new permit holders attend an in-person Bike of e-Bike Safety Course and/or Presentation. Currently the City of Carlsbad is offering these for free, once per quarter. Visit the City of Carlsbad website for more information. Because these courses are not offered year round, however, CUSD will also accept evidence of participation in an online Bike/e-Bike Safety Course and/or Presentation such as this free option.

PTSA Announcements

Become a Member of PTSA Today!
Being a member of the CHMS PTSA just means that you have given a contribution to the organization in support of enhancing the CHMS experience for all students. You can join for as little as $25, but if you can, we ask that each family consider a donation between $100 to $250 for the year. Your support provides an impactful contribution. Click here to join!

STAR Program!
At CHMS, the PTSA organizes a monthly gifting program for teachers and staff to show them how much they are appreciated - the STAR program!
Please consider volunteering to support our teachers and staff members this year by providing a small gift to show them our appreciation for all they do.  There are two ways you can support this program this year:

1) Sign up to "adopt" a teacher/staff member by getting them a small gift and dropping it off each month in the office for it to be delivered.

2) Make a donation toward the STAR program and let PTSA coordinate gifting to ensure each teacher/staff member is covered and cared for.

Thank you so much for your involvement!
