Quote of the Week

“There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work and learning from failure.”- Colin Powell, four-star general and former U.S. secretary of state.  Success doesn’t come from luck or shortcuts—it comes from putting in the effort. Whether you’re studying for a test, practicing a sport, or working on a project, the key is to prepare, give it your best, and not be afraid to make mistakes. Even when things don’t go perfectly, we learn and get stronger. So keep showing up, working hard, and learning—you’re building success every step of the way!

We are so proud of our 8th graders and want to send them off to this next chapter of their lives with a fun celebration of their accomplishments these past 3 years. Any and all help is so very much appreciated!  💚💛💚 Your PTSA

Library Materials

We are nearing the end of the School year, and  it is time to return any library books that you have checked out and pay any outstanding fees on your account. Please take note of the following dates:

FRIDAY, MAY 23 - DEADLINE FOR RETURNING ITEMS

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 2- DEADLINE FOR MAKING PAYMENTS.

Examples of outstanding school materials that should be turned in right away are: Chromebook chargers, class novels, books, old textbooks, or materials from another school in the district that were never returned.

Students WILL BE allowed to keep their current Chromebooks and chargers over the summer, so those devices DO NOT need to be returned.

Special note for 8th grade families:

Incoming freshman students CANNOT get their high school schedules until all remaining CHM fines are paid and all overdue CHM materials are returned. CHM Yearbooks may not be distributed to students who have unpaid fines.

Please return items and submit payments in person to our Library Media Technician, Daniela Lopez, (please pay with exact change or a check made out to CUSD). If you have any questions, or financial concerns please email daniela.lopez@carlsbadusd.net

Yearbooks will be distributed to students during their advisory classes on Wednesday, June 4th.

If you haven’t purchased a yearbook yet, there’s still time! Yearbooks will be available for purchase during the last week of school for $55 (cash only). Bring your payment to Mrs. Kane in Room 209 or to the main office between Monday, June 2nd and Thursday, June 4th.

We’re excited to host a student panel featuring multilingual learners who have been redesignated as fluent English proficient. These students will share their experiences, insights, and what has helped them most in developing their English skills in CUSD.

In addition, we’ll celebrate the accomplishments of our English Learner Services this year and share resources and opportunities for support over the summer.

Child care will be provided.

To help us plan, please RSVP by Tuesday, May 6, using the link below so we can get an accurate headcount for dinner.

Love on a Leash

CHMS enjoyed some special guests this week.  Six dogs and their humans brought smiles, snuggles, and stress relief to our amazing students at the end of our second week of SBAC testing.  We appreciate the annual visit from the Love on a Leash team.
