This will be the beginning of my 26th year of teaching. Although born in New York, I grew up in Colorado and began my teaching career there. I started at a middle school teaching 8th grade US History and then moved to a high school for three years before taking a leave to work on my master’s in history. Midway through, my grandpa was diagnosed with cancer, so I moved to Del Mar to help take care of him. He went on to live several more years, and by then I became entrenched in a life by the ocean. I taught in San Dieguito for a couple of years, at TPHS and at Carmel Valley Middle. I soon made my way to CUSD and have been teaching here ever since. First at Valley and now at CHMS. After I had my beautiful daughter Anika, I took a three year leave of absence to be home with her. She just started her junior year. She is the love of my life. I am passionate about helping people and teaching is a great way for me to accomplish that. I always felt like I was put on earth to be a mom and to be a teacher. I feel fortunate to have found my calling. When I’m not teaching, I love to travel, hike, cook, read historical fiction, weight lift, take long walks on the beach, take macro photos, spend time in nature and be with friends and family.
